Tasmanians at RoboCup Junior International 2009

Congratulations to our Tasmanian RoboCuppers (and SmartBots veterans), Mia and Devika (Grade 9) and Yaya (Grade 7) who have just returned from the RoboCup Junior International 2009 in Austria. Congratulations also to the adults involved in helping the Ogilvie High students, teacher/mentor Susan Bowler and mentor Graeme Faulkner.

Mia and Devika competed in the Dance challenge. Although they missed out on a finals place, they were given a "Collegiality Award". This was given to the team who was voted the most helpful.

Yaya competed in the Rescue challenge. She came seventh in the individual competition, and first in the superteam competition!

Well done girls!

First post

This is the first post of my new blog. I named it after my online robotics class, SmartBots, because my usual online nickname was already taken... )-:

I was once a contributor to The NXT Step, but I posted so infrequently, I thought it was best to take my name off the list. I am, however, still very keen on LEGO robotics, and particularly its classroom applications.

I'm intending to use this site to store resources that will be helpful for teachers using robotics in their classroom.
